Luxury facial treatments: how to choose the right facial for your skin

The right facial treatment is not chosen by name, but by what your skin needs at the moment. — hydration, firmness, brightness, purification or regeneration. Once you know the need, the choice becomes simple: each type of facial solves something different, and the difference between a good result and a spectacular one lies precisely in this match.

In short

Choose in three steps. (1) Identify your skin's main need — dehydration, loss of firmness, dull complexion, congestion, or sensitivity. (2) Choose the approach: luxury cosmeceuticals (Valmont), ayurveda and biotechnology (Subtle Energies), non-invasive technology (LPG, BYONIK) or advanced regeneration (SkinPen, exosomes). (3) Set a cadence: a maintenance facial every 4–6 weeks, a course of 4–6 sessions for long-term results.

What a "luxury" facial actually means„

A luxury facial is not your average, higher-priced facial. Three things make it different:

  • Diagnosis before the product. The skin is first assessed — type, hydration level, sensitivity, objective — and only then is the protocol chosen. The same treatment can be performed differently on two people.
  • Professional-grade formulas and technologies. Active ingredients and concentrations that don't exist in home care: triple DNA and alpine extracts at Valmont, 24K gold or vegan collagen at Subtle Energies, pulse-triggered laser at BYONIK.
  • The ritual around. The manuality, the slow pace, the camera, the breathing — the part that turns a treatment into an experience and which, in turn, has an effect on the skin by reducing stress.

Step 1: start from your skin's needs, not your skin type

The most common mistake is to ask for a „facial for dry skin.” Skin is not static: the same skin can be dehydrated in winter, congested in summer, and lack firmness after 40. The correct question is „"What do I want to change?"”.

Step 2: Choose the approach that suits you

At The Elements, facials fall into four families. They are not „better” or „worse” — they are different answers to different needs.

Swiss Cosmeceuticals — Valmont

The benchmark for anti-aging and immediate comfort. Valmont protocols combine formulas with triple DNA, collagen and alpine extracts with slow, very precise manual work. They are the treatments you choose when you want immediate visible result and deep relaxation: skin looks fuller and brighter right from the first session.

The top of the range is The Elixir of the Glaciers (120 min, from 2,550 lei) — an exclusive ritual, with rare formulas, that you choose before an important event or as a gift treatment.

Ayurveda meets biotechnology — Subtle Energies

For those looking for efficiency without aggression. The protocols combine Ayurvedic principles — balancing, breathing, pure essential oils — with biotechnological actives. They are especially suitable for sensitive or reactive skin, but also for firmness, through the range of vegan collagen.

Non-invasive technology — LPG and BYONIK

  • LPG Facial (from 300 lei) — mechanical stimulation that activates the skin's natural regeneration. The most affordable and excellent entry point into treatments.
  • BYONIK — pulse-triggered laser, synchronized with the heart rate, which helps active ingredients penetrate exactly when the skin can receive them. No discomfort and no recovery period.

Each protocol ends the same way: skin is soothed, hydrated, and protected. The rest — the active ingredients, the intensity, the pace — adapts to what the skin is asking for that day.

Advanced Regeneration — SkinPen and Exosomes

Microneedling with SkinPen creates controlled micro-channels that trigger the skin's own collagen production. It is the choice for post-acne scars, uneven texture and loss of density, with results that build over time, in treatments. Variant with exosomes adds a layer of regenerative support.

Unlike other families, here there is a short recovery period (redness 24–48 hours) and a clear set of contraindications — an additional reason to discuss with the specialist before the appointment.

Step 3: a session or a cure?

  • A punctual facial It makes sense before an event, as a seasonal reset, or as a first contact with a protocol. The effect of brightness and comfort generally lasts 1–2 weeks.
  • A course of 4–6 sessions, 2–4 weeks apart, is what you choose when you want a real change in texture, firmness, or pigmentation. Collagen builds over time — that’s why regenerative treatments are almost always recommended in a series.
  • Maintenance, after the treatment, means one session every 4–6 weeks — approximately how long a cell renewal cycle lasts.

How the first meeting goes

  1. Initial discussion. The specialist evaluates your skin and asks you about your home routine, recent treatments, sensitivities, and goals.
  2. Protocol customization. The products, intensity and focus of the session are chosen. Even within the same treatment, the steps are adapted.
  3. The actual treatment. Cleansing, exfoliation or enzymes, extraction (if applicable), actives, facial massage, mask and final protection.
  4. Recommendations from home. What you use, what you avoid in the next few days, and when you come back.

At The Elements, the session is part of a complete experience: welcome drink and access to jacuzzi, saunas and outdoor pool (seasonal).

The most common mistakes when choosing a facial

  • You choose by name, not by need. The most expensive treatment is not automatically the most suitable for you right now.
  • Expect healing results from just one session. For texture, pigmentation and density, you need a series.
  • You do an intense treatment right before an event. For microneedling, allow a minimum of 7–10 days. For an event tomorrow, choose a hydrating and brightening facial.
  • You don't say what you use at home. Retinol, acids, or a recent peel completely change what can be done in the cabin.
  • Skip sunscreen after treatment. It is the step that preserves the result.
Good to know before booking

Tell the specialist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are undergoing dermatological treatment, if you have active herpes, skin lesions or inflammations, if you have recently had peeling, laser or injections, or if you have a tendency to keloid scars. Some protocols are adapted, others are postponed. For any dermatological condition, spa treatment does not replace a medical consultation.

How do you choose at The Elements?

If you're not sure what suits you, don't choose from the list — come to the discussion. The specialist evaluates the skin and recommends the right protocol for your situation, and if necessary, builds a plan over several sessions.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which facial treatment is right for me?

Start with your skin's main need — hydration, firmness, brightness, purification, or regeneration — and choose the treatment built for that goal. It's safest to have a brief skin assessment with a specialist before your appointment, because the same skin has different needs from one season to the next.

How often should I get a facial?

For maintenance, one session every 4–6 weeks — approximately how long a cell renewal cycle lasts. For a specific goal (scars, pigmentation, firmness), a course of 4–6 sessions 2–4 weeks apart.

What is the difference between a cosmetic facial and one with equipment?

The cosmetic facial works through products and manual skills — hydration, cleansing, brightness, relaxation. The one with equipment (LPG, BYONIK, SkinPen) adds a physical stimulus that triggers the skin's own response, with deeper results, but obtained in treatments.

What facial treatment is suitable for sensitive skin?

Gentle protocols, without aggressive exfoliation — for example the Subtle Energies range, built on Ayurvedic principles and biotech actives. Avoid intense extraction and treatments with a recovery period until the skin barrier stabilizes.

Can I get a facial before an event?

Yes, but choose wisely. A hydration and brightening treatment can be done even 1–2 days in advance. A regenerative treatment, such as microneedling, requires a minimum of 7–10 days.

Do facial treatments just moisturize or do they really have an anti-aging effect?

Both, depending on the protocol. Collagen-stimulating treatments (microneedling, LPG, lifting protocols) have a real, but progressive, anti-aging effect, obtained in series. Hydration and luminosity treatments give an immediate, visible effect, with a shorter duration.

How much does a facial cost at The Elements?

Prices start at around 300 lei for an LPG Facial and go up to 2,550 lei for exclusive rituals like Valmont L'Elixir des Glaciers or SkinPen with exosomes. The final price depends on the duration and the chosen protocol.

After 19 years, I've learned that your skin will tell you what it needs — if you listen to it before you open the product. That's why I never start a session without assessing the skin on my face, not the skin type on the form.
