Valmont L'Elixir des Glaciers: what it is and why it is a reference treatment

L'Elixir des Glaciers is the top treatment of the Swiss house Valmont: 120 minutes in which the face, décolleté and hands undergo two cleansings, three massages and four masks. It's the most complete facial protocol on The Elements menu and, at 2,550 lei, also the most expensive — reason enough to make it worth explaining in advance, not discovering at the reception.

In short

L'Elixir des Glaciers is a complete facial ritual, not a "longer" facial. It lasts 120 minutes, cost 2,550 lei and includes face, décolleté and hands. You choose it when you want immediately visible result — before an event, as a reset after a tough period or as a gift treatment. If your goal is just one (hydration, firmness, brightness), a 90-minute Valmont protocol at 1,300 lei it's more efficient.

What is L'Elixir des Glaciers?

Valmont is a luxury Swiss cosmetics house, known for formulas with triple DNA, collagen, and alpine extracts, and for slow and very precise manual work — the massage is part of the protocol, not a bonus at the end.

L'Elixir des Glaciers is Valmont's most expensive range. At The Elements, the treatment that bears his name is the most extensive facial protocol on the menu: 120 minutes that don't stop at the face, but also include the décolleté and hands — the areas that usually first betray a lack of care.

The difference from a regular facial is not in the duration, but in protocol density. In a typical session you have a cleanse, a set of active ingredients and a mask. Here you have two cleanses, three massage sequences and four masks, applied in order, each setting the stage for the next.

Why is it considered the reference treatment?

Three reasons, in order of importance:

  • It covers everything in sight. The face, décolleté and hands receive the same level of attention. Most treatments stop at the chin line.
  • The massage is the centerpiece. The three massages are not "product applications" — they are distinct sequences, with different rhythms and pressures, that work on drainage, tone, and relaxation.
  • It is an occasional treatment, assumed. It's not done monthly. It's done before a moment that matters or when the skin needs a complete reset.

After 25 years, I've learned that a longer treatment doesn't automatically mean a better treatment. L'Elixir is different: it's the only one on the menu where you have time to work on each area until it makes sense, without rushing to the next step.

How the 120 minutes go

  1. Initial discussion. The skin is assessed and the focus of the session is determined — hydration, firmness, or brightness. Even such a structured protocol adapts.
  2. First cleaning. Removes makeup and surface film.
  3. Second cleaning. It works deep down, on already prepared skin. This is where it decides how well the active ingredients will penetrate.
  4. Massages and masks, alternating. Three massage sequences — face, décolleté, hands — interspersed with four masks. Each mask works while working on a different area, so there's no downtime.
  5. The ultimate protection. The skin barrier is closed and protection appropriate for the time of day is applied.

At The Elements, the session is part of a complete experience: welcome drink and access to the jacuzzi, saunas and outdoor pool (seasonal), included in the visit. If you want to use them, tell us in advance — we reserve the necessary time for you.

Who it's for — and who it's not for

It is for you if

  • you have an important event in the next few days and you want your skin to look visibly rested;
  • you want a treatment that also covers the neckline and hands, not just the face;
  • you are looking for a gift that won't be consumed in an hour;
  • You've been through a tough time and want a complete reset, not maintenance.

It is not the right choice if

  • you have a single and clear goal (only hydration, only firmness) — then a 90-minute Valmont protocol is more effective in terms of result/price ratio;
  • you need a cure, not one session — for scars, pigmentation or texture, advanced regeneration gives more consistent results over time;
  • your skin is going through an acute episode (inflammation, rash, recent post-procedure) — then it calms down first.

L'Elixir or a 90-minute Valmont?

The Valmont range from The Elements has five 90-minute protocols, each built around a goal, plus the ritual for men. They all cost the same; you choose by need, not price.

90-minute protocols can be extended to 120 with the BYONIK treatment included, for 1,700 lei. Prices are confirmed upon appointment. The full list is on pricing page.

Simple rule: a goal → a 90-minute protocol. A moment → L'Elixir.

What results to expect

Immediately after the session, the skin looks fuller, smoother and visibly brighter, and the contour seems more defined — the combined effect of the intense hydration and drainage from the massage. This is why the treatment is usually done, one or two days before of the event that matters, not on the same day.

What not does: it does not replace a cure for a structural skin problem and does not produce permanent changes in a single session. Real anti-aging builds over time — I wrote about this extensively in facial treatment selection guide.

How do you prepare and what do you do afterwards?

Before: Come without heavy makeup (makeup removal is part of the ritual, but rested skin responds better) and avoid heavy exfoliation or retinol products 48 hours beforehand. Tell your specialist about any sensitivities, medications, or recent cosmetic procedures.

After: hydration, daily sun protection and 24 hours without sauna or intense sports. The complete guide is on the page How do you prepare?.

How much does it cost and how do you book?

L'Elixir des Glaciers — 120 minutes — 2,550 lei. The price includes the entire protocol: face, décolleté and hands.

Are you not sure?

Facial analysis at The Elements is free. The specialist looks at your skin and honestly tells you if L'Elixir is what you need or if another protocol will get you where you want faster.

Frequently asked questions

What is Valmont L'Elixir des Glaciers?

It's the top treatment from Swiss house Valmont — a complete 120-minute facial ritual that includes two cleanses, three massages, and four masks, applied to the face, décolleté, and hands. At The Elements, it costs 2,550 lei.

How long does it take and how much does it cost?

120 minutes, 2,550 lei. It is the most extensive and expensive facial treatment on The Elements menu.

How is it different from other Valmont treatments?

The other five Valmont protocols last 90 minutes, cost 1,300 lei, and are each designed for a specific goal — hydration, vitality, brightness, lifting, or firmness. L'Elixir doesn't target just one goal: it's a complete ritual, which also covers the décolleté and hands.

How long before an event should I do it?

Ideally, one or two days before. The skin has time to settle, and the luminosity and contouring effect is at its maximum.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Generally yes, because the protocol is non-invasive and the massage is gentle. If the skin is going through an acute episode — inflammation, rash, recent post-procedure — it is postponed and calmed down first. The free facial analysis clarifies this in a few minutes.

Can I get it as a gift voucher?

Yes. It is one of the most requested treatments as a gift, precisely because it is a complete experience, not a short session.
