Duration: 60 / 90 minutes
Balinese massage is a traditional technique from Bali that combines medium pressure with long stretching movements and working on tension points. The rhythm is continuous, the oil is warm and aromatic, and the goal is not only to relax the muscles, but also to restore a sense of balance between body and mind.
At The Elements we work on it in one of the themed rooms, with Aromatherapy Associates products, in 60 or 90 minute sessions. It can also be done as a couple, simultaneously, in the same room.
The session begins with a brief discussion: you tell the therapist how you feel, what areas are tense, and how strong you want the pressure to be. It's not a formality — this sets the pace for the entire session.
This is followed by long, full-palm strokes with warm oil applied to the back and legs, which warm the tissue and give the body time to relax. As the muscles relax, the pressure gradually increases and specific areas of tension are worked on — usually the shoulders, neck, and lower back. Towards the end, gentle stretches, specific to the Balinese technique, are interspersed, which restore joint mobility.
60 or 90 minutes? The 60-minute version covers the back, shoulders, neck, and legs. The 90-minute version adds time for arms, hands, feet, and a longer stretch sequence — and, more importantly, gives your body time to fully relax before the deep pressure part. Whether you’re coming for the first time or have old tension in a particular area, 90 minutes makes a real difference.
The three are often confused. The difference is not "how much it hurts", but what each one aims for:
| Balinese massage | Swedish massage | Deep tissue massage | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pressure | average, gradually increasing | mild to medium | firm, on the deep layers |
| Feeling | fluid, rhythmic, with stretches | smooth, without intensity | intense, punctual, controlled |
| For whom | you want both relaxation and tension release | you just want to disconnect | you have contractures or persistent pain |
| Price from | 450 lei / 60 minutes | 400 lei / 60 minutes | 550 lei / 60 minutes |
In short: Swedish massage is the gentlest, deep tissue is the most intense and therapeutic, and Balinese sits in the middle — firm enough to release tension, fluid enough to remain a relaxing experience.
It's suitable if you have tense shoulders and neck after long days at the office, if you sleep poorly from stress, if you want a form of relaxation that isn't just passive, or if you're looking for a couple's experience.
Postpone the session or ask your doctor first if you have a fever or an ongoing infection, if you have recently undergone surgery, if you have acute inflammation, a known venous problem or a skin condition in the area that will be worked on. There are no absolute prohibitions, but there are situations in which the decision does not belong to us.
If you are pregnant, we have a dedicated massage, adapted in position and pressure — we do not recommend the Balinese in its place.
The price of the session includes a welcome drink, access to the jacuzzi and saunas, and in season, the outdoor pool. Our recommendation is to come 30–40 minutes early: the wet area before the massage prepares the muscles and makes the session visibly more effective.
The ritual can be customized with a Thai foot massage (20 minutes, 120 lei) or a scalp massage (20 minutes, 120 lei). All prices are in full list.
60 minutes from 450 lei or 90 minutes from 550 lei. The price includes a welcome drink and access to the jacuzzi, saunas and outdoor pool in season.
Swedish massage works gently, with long strokes and a steady rhythm, and is mainly aimed at relaxation. Balinese uses medium pressure that gradually increases, adds stretches, and works on tight areas precisely — remaining relaxing, but releasing more tension.
Yes. Sessions take place simultaneously, in the same room, with one therapist for each person.
We work with Aromatherapy Associates warm oils. You can choose the aroma at the beginning of the session, and if you have a known allergy or sensitivity, tell the therapist — we have neutral options.
The pressure is medium and increases gradually, not suddenly. It shouldn't hurt: the intensity is adjusted during the session, and if it exceeds your comfort threshold, just say so.
No. Robe, slippers and towels are provided. If you want to use the wet area before or after, you can bring your own swimsuit.
